In your quest to find a local church, here are some of the - some are harder to spot than others - many are dressed up to look "the real thing".. 

"Churches" that are NOT churches

If you are looking through a list of local churches, the easiest way to immediately rule out those that are not Biblical will be in the name or the Category under which they are listed. Specifically and that have titles or are categorized as any of the below can be bypassed without looking any further:

• Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS)
• Catholic Church (also look for Mary or Queen in the name)
• Jehovah's Witnesses 
• Church of Scientology
• Unitarian Universalist 

LGBTQ+

All churches should be welcoming to everyone however that does not mean affirming, condoning or celebrating this lifestyle, rather a church that holds to the Word of God will welcome such people and confront sin

Prosperity Gospel & Universalism

The core message behind these false churches involves some form of health, wealth and prosperity, that there is no judgement on their part and everyone is welcome.  see page on this.

An easy way to spot a church that has is not following Scripture.

The Bible specifies who the qualifications to be a pastor AND that women are not to teach men
